Day students are fully engaged in all aspects of EXPLO. You’ll be placed in a Living Group with other day and residential students and check in with your Residential Advisors (RAs) throughout the day to take advantage of all of the options available at EXPLO.
Although many depart just before dinner (6:00 p.m.), day students are encouraged to stay for evening programming as often as they wish. As a day student, you can also opt to participate in weekend trips and special events. If you decide to take advantage of these opportunities, there are additional charges for dinner and evening trips.
Day students check in with staff upon arrival at the program each day, giving information about their mode and time of departure for that day. Day students have several transportation options for reaching the campus:
Many day students come to the program via the L. There are two campus-adjacent L stops:
Day students can also access campus via the Chicago Public Transportation bus system. Stops on and nearby campus include:
Students arriving by car should be dropped off between 8:00 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. and can be picked up anytime between 6:00 p.m. and 10:15 p.m. daily. If a student needs to leave early, a parent or guardian should contact the Main Office. Students may drive themselves to and from the program, but may not give rides to residential students. Parking arrangements can be made by contacting the program.
Students living close enough to the program may ride their bicycle to and from EXPLO, provided they bring a lock, wear a helmet, and only bike during daylight hours.
