Keeping Health + Safety at the Center

As we plan for Summer 2021 with COVID-19 safety front-of-mind, some of our traditional programming may be subject to change. We will continue to follow guidance from the CDC, public health officials, and our COVID-19 planning team, and will provide regular updates to families in the lead-up to arrival day. College Prep for the 21st Century

According to the World Economic Forum, creativity, critical thinking, and problem solving are the most in demand skills for today and in the future. Yet a recent Gallup Report on Creativity in Learning shows most schools are failing to develop these in demand skills.

Higher education leaders are telling us that high schools are so focused on preparing students to apply to college that they are not thriving in college. Instead, they are often confused and overwhelmed when they have to choose a major. As one dean at a leading research university recently revealed:

“Students are coming to us having passed through the gauntlet of the most competitive college admissions process, but they are arriving broken and not prepared to take advantage of the opportunities. Compared to 15 years ago, we’re seeing less creativity, resourcefulness and resilience.”

Pre-College + Career Exploration at EXPLO prepares high school students to thrive in college — and forge the path to their first great job after graduation.

Career Exploration: Your Head Start for College Success

Career exploration used to be what you did senior year of college. These days, the most successful students start thinking about life after college when they’re still in high school. Why? Because when you have a better sense of who you are and what drives you, you are more likely to choose a college or university that can help you get to where you want to go.

EXPLO is your opportunity to explore your strengths and interests while connecting with industry experts who can get you started on the path toward your first great job — well ahead of freshman year.

EXPLO courses are framed to engage students in experiences that build creative confidence, entrepreneurial thinking, and cultural competency through:

  • Connections to industry experts
  • Exposure to a broad range of career opportunities in dozens of industries
