Explore Sarah Lawrence College

Tucked alongside the tree-lined village of Bronxville, N.Y., Sarah Lawrence is a 44-acre wooded campus in Westchester County, one of New York’s most sought-after areas to raise a family. A consistent Top 5 performer in teaching and learning categories in the Princeton Review annual list of 385 Best Colleges, Sarah Lawrence is noted for its personalized approach to education that instills in its students a lifelong curiosity and an entrepreneurial spirit that allows them to take intellectual and creative risks.

A short walk to Bronxville (a former artist’s colony) and a 30-minute train ride into Manhattan is what makes Sarah Lawrence the “Best of Both Worlds” — a private, safe suburban oasis with the rich culture and unending excitement of the world’s most recognized city within arm’s reach.

As summer residents at Sarah Lawrence, EXPLO students will have access to a wide majority of the college’s facilities and resources, including:

  • Air conditioned classrooms and meeting spaces
  • Two outdoor gathering venues
  • Modern dorms and dining facilities
  • The brand new Barbara Walters Student Center
  • Art studios and performance spaces, including an outdoor amphitheatre
  • A student gym and swimming pool
  • Recreational facilities

The Lawn

The hub of activity throughout the day, the Lawn is where our community gathers for meetings and activities, toss a Frisbee or football, or relax with friends while the campus DJ spins popular songs from around the world.

While we utilize myriad buildings, classrooms, and facilities on campus throughout the day, the Lawn is the pulse of our community and the centerpiece for student life at EXPLO.

The Ville

Throughout their time at EXPLO, students will have the opportunity to visit Bronxville, a community that the New York Times lauds for its English village charm.

A short walk from campus, Bronxville Center (or as we call it, The Ville) is home to a number of shops, cafes, and restaurants. Throughout the week, students and staff walk to the The Ville to grab a coffee or ice cream, do a little shopping, and pick up any essentials they may have run out of or forgotten at home. Popular stops include:

  • CVS
  • Starbucks
  • Haagen-Dazs Ice Cream
  • Womrath Book Shop
  • Candy Rox
  • Bronxville Movie Theater
