More than you can imagine. EXPLO offers a day program unlike any other. It’s the only summer program where you can explore the world of people and ideas with students from around the globe — practically in your own backyard. Our day students enjoy:
As a day student, you will be placed in a Day Group with an advisor and other day students. Your advisor and other day program faculty members will check in every morning and throughout the day to keep you up-to-date with all of the day’s activities and events, and to help you maximize your EXPLO experience.
Attendance and Check-In — Day students should plan to arrive on campus by 8:15 a.m. to get ready for the day. Students will meet with their advisor every morning at 8:30 a.m. to check in and get information on the day’s events. They will meet in their designated meeting locations Monday-Friday, rain or shine.
Check-Out Procedure — All day students are required to check out prior to leaving campus at the end of the day, regardless of the time or method of departure. Students leaving by bus or car at 4:30 p.m. or by car at 8:15 p.m. will check out with the staff member in the designated parking lot.
For the convenience of families who wish to drop off their children prior to the 8:15 a.m. weekday check-in time, EXPLO will welcome students as early as 7:30 a.m. every morning at the regular drop-off location. While no formal programming will be offered until the day officially commences, several staff members will be available to greet and supervise students until Day Student check-in begins. There is no additional fee for early arrivals.
EXPLO also offers an extended day program for day students. We encourage students to stay for the day’s evening events so that they can glean as much of the EXPLO experience as possible. Day students who decide to stay late will eat dinner at the program and then participate in evening activities until 8:15 p.m. each night.
Extended Day Meal Fee: For students who choose to stay for the evening, dinner is available for a small fee. This fee is automatically deducted from the student’s Trips + Sundries Account.
Weekend trips are a chance to experience a side of EXPLO not found on campus and make new friends along the way. All residential students participate in weekend trips and day students are highly encouraged to take part in them as well (though they’re not required to do so).
Weekend Trips Fee: For students who choose to attend weekend trips, fees for their selected trip(s) are automatically deducted from the student’s Trips + Sundries Account.
No need to worry about packing a lunch — we’ve got that covered! EXPLO offers extensive lunch options — hot and cold, healthy choices, and traditional summer favorites — every day. To ensure the health and wellness of all of our students, we work closely with campus dining services to provide options for students with food sensitivities and food allergies, as well as vegetarian and vegan options.
There are no food restrictions at our program, as our students are at an age where they can be responsible about their own dietary safety. If you have questions about your student’s dietary needs and dining at EXPLO, please reach out to the program so we can help guide you through our policies.
Our fleet of buses travel throughout Westchester County and neighboring communities every Monday through Friday. Download our schedule below for complete pick-up and drop-off locations and times.
There is a $195 fee per 3-week session for this service.Download EXPLO New York Bus Schedule
