Veterinary Science is a two-week focus program on the campus of Wheaton College for students entering grades 6+7.
You love animals, and you want to learn everything there is to know about how to make animals (including your pets at home) as healthy and happy as possible, right? Welcome to Veterinary Science. You’ve come to the right place.
Working with professional veterinarians and technicians, you’ll diagnose animal diseases, check vital signs, learn to suture wounds, splint broken limbs, perform life-saving CPR, and “read” animals for both injury and illness. At vet clinics and hospitals, rescue shelters, and assistance-animal training centers, you’ll work directly with animals and their caretakers, getting to know the field of veterinary medicine from the inside out. From the zoo to the farm, you won’t just study what it takes to become a great vet — you’ll be well on your way to becoming one yourself.
Interested in exploring veterinary medicine, but not ready to invest all of your time focused on just one subject? Our most popular program – Exploration – might be a better fit for you.
With a number of course and workshop offerings in the medical sciences, Exploration Programs give you the chance to explore your interest in medicine while at the same time giving you the opportunity to explore many more interests via a wide variety of hands-on courses, workshops, activities, events, and trips.
Here are some Exploration course options that are complementary to Veterinary Science:
