Bioengineering for Girls: Wheaton College Campus - EXPLO

Wheaton College Campus

Explore the Wheaton Campus

When you’re not launching your STEM-based career in Wheaton’s award-winning science labs, you’ll have a chance to immerse yourself in the comfortable campus environment of Wheaton College. Wake up in your dorm (housing Bioengineering for Girls program students exclusively) and prepare for the day before crossing the footbridge of Peacock Pond to join your friends for breakfast in the recently renovated Chase Dining Hall. Swing by to check your email in one of four EXPLO computer labs before you arrive for a full day of class at Wheaton’s LEED Gold certified Mars Center for Science and Technology.

Upper Campus: Your Home Base for Bioengineering

State of the art lab spaces, technology-equipped classrooms, networked microscopes, multiple makerspaces, and that’s just the science building. You’ll also have access to Wheaton’s athletic facilities, including acres of playing fields, tennis courts, an indoor pool, and multiple gymnasium spaces. Cozy up with a book in the pond-side gazebo, or continue a class discussion on the grassy “Dimple” area. Meet up with classmates for an afternoon snack at the Hood Café or an evening film in Weber Theater. Wheaton’s outstanding facilities allow EXPLO to offer one-of-a-kind opportunities for you to explore new interests in a variety of extracurricular areas.

Norton, Massachusetts: Small Town Appeal with Big City Access

Imagine the chance to walk down the street to the mom-and-pop pizza shop (where you’ll quickly become a “regular”) only to hop on a bus to Boston for a Broadway production or to Providence for an OMNI film showing later in the same day. Spend a weekend afternoon exploring the shops of Harvard Square or Boston’s renowned Museum of Fine Arts, or dip your toes in the Atlantic at one of Newport’s famous beaches. Norton’s central location makes a great setting for our Bioengineering for Girls program – academically and culturally. From access to some of the most innovative biotech firms in the world, to the historical birthplace of our nation — Wheaton College is your launching point for a summer of exploration.

Ideal Location

Its location is ideal: right in the center of beautiful Norton, Massachusetts, and perfectly situated 38 miles from Boston and 25 miles from Providence, Rhode Island. One of the most beautiful residential campuses in New England (Norman Rockwell would approve), Wheaton College is also one of the region’s friendliest.
