At EXPLO, activities take learning out of the classroom and into the playing field, the studios, the theater, the Quad, and more. While courses and workshops give students a chance to have an in-depth experience in a specific subject, activity periods are designed to allow students to explore an even wider variety of interests and have plenty of fun while they’re at it!
We offer athletic activities (like soccer and tennis) and artistic activities (like painting and pottery), as well as zany, EXPLO originals (like Quest and Squirrel Fishing) that will pique your curiosity. Each day, our newsletter, the Atlas, lists all of our activity offerings, and you’ll have the difficult choice of narrowing down your favorites. Students participate in one or two activity periods per day and choose from a variety of activities each period.

Our Programming Office — officially known as the “Office of Magic” — curates Main Events every night specific to interests of 4th+5th and 6th+7th graders, whether that’s on or off-campus. Some events have included star-gazing at Wheaton College’s Astronomical Observatory, laser-tagging at the local arcade, stepping out of comfort zones at the Student Talent Show, or relaxing on the quad for a “Drive-In” Movie Night.
