Explo - Learning Through Exploration

We Design Remarkable Teaching And Learning Experiences.

EXPLO Studio is dedicated to innovative curriculum design and relevant teacher professional development. We get your students thinking with their minds and their hands, and we help educators rethink how they teach.

(Finally!) Applicable PD. A five-day immersive critical making camp in an environment where playful pedagogy reigns. Experience maker projects from the student perspective and walk away buzzing with content-rich maker ideas.

See the potential in everyday materials, from paper clips, postcards and scissors, up through PLA and laser beams. Our year-long student course incorporates a purposeful maker mindset, and propels both first-time and experienced makers to action.

Looking for something that stretches beyond your typical department gathering or hands-on project? Give us a call. We adapt our projects to present at faculty meetings, professional development days, and conference keynotes.

  • Work with Lightneer and CERN

Lightneer’s soon-to-be-released app, Big Bang Legends, unlocks the mystery of particle physics for school-aged kids. We are collaborating with physicists from CERN (Geneva) to develop curriculum teachers can use to “collide” particles in their classrooms (sans CERN’s Large Hadron Collider).

  • Berkshire School’s Pro Vita!

Dodecahedron lamps cast an assortment of shadows, thanks to Berkshire School students’ intricate laser-cut designs during a Studio-led week-long winter elective course.

  • Open Leadership at MIT w/Joi Ito

The MIT Media Lab and Mozilla hosted an invitation only Open Leadership Camp for non-profit executives who are leaders in their field. Moira Kelly, EXPLO’s president and Dave Hamilton, EXPLO’s creative director, joined with other “campers” to learn about working open.

Building No-Regret, Robot-Proof Skills for an Uncertain Future.

Nobody ever looks back thinking, “I wish I didn’t waste all that time learning how to collaborate well with others.” Complex problem-solving, creative thinking, systems thinking… These are sticky skills students need to thrive in this fourth industrial revolution.

“Hands down the best PD I’ve ever attended. The Best. Hands Down.”
