Half of the achievement gap between high- and low-income youth is sourced in summer learning loss.
The Summer Collaborative works to stem this loss and light kids up about learning by supporting existing community centers and schools that serve over 2,000 urban youth in Delaware. Since 2014, EXPLO has partnered with the Collaborative to provide professional development in areas from leadership and curriculum development to talent identification, staff training, and scheduling.
The work that the Collaborative and EXPLO have undertaken reaches beyond summer enrichment. It’s about illuminating the potential inherent to each student the community camps serve, and providing a supportive environment where they can create, make mistakes and try again. Read about the partnership on our blog.
"When our team came here [to EXPLO], their mindset shifted to a place of what’s possible, and they walked out alive with ideas to bring back to their communities. With EXPLO’s continued support, they've had the confidence to really make those changes."
