Question of the Day: "What are you looking forward to this summer at Explo?" (7/24)

For today's question, we talked to one 11th grade boys living group. Here are some of their answers:
Sami
Jason from New York. I'm looking forward to having a good time, meeting new friends, and definitely learning a few new things in my classes. I'm taking sports psychology and forensic science. I've heard forensic science is fun, and so far I've been having a good time. In sports psychology, I play soccer and just love sports, so it's very interesting to me.
Sami
Francisco from the Dominican Republic. Hanging out with friends, getting to know new people, and learning different languages. So far, I've learned how to say a little in Greek, French, Italian, and Portuguese.
Sami
Ryan from Massachusetts. I just love this campus. I was here last year, and I'm just looking forward to having an experience on par with what I had last year, it was just so good. They had some great main events last year. I loved Carnival Night. Are they bringing that back? [Yes, we are.]
Sami
Christian from Venezuela. I'm looking to improve my SAT scores, to meet friends, and to have a great time. So far, I've met lots of different people -- some Lebanese, some French . . .
Sami
Guillaume from France. Having fun, meeting people from every country, and improving my English. You know, it's a language that every country speaks, and at some point, perhaps, I'm going to study in the United States.
Sami
Darren from Canada. There's a lot of things. I mean, besides the academic courses that you're obviously interested in -- you know, I want to improve my speechwriting and I'm interested in sustainable engineering -- there's also meeting new people and making new connections. You don't really experience an atmosphere like this anywhere else. You know, you live with these people, you brush your teeth, and all that stuff, and I think because of that you find out who you truly are. Especially in the times in between courses or while you're on the bus. I'd say that I'm here to meet people, learn in some courses, and establish some connections.
Sami
Fadi from Venezuela. I wanted to know how college life on the East Coast was. I wanted to see universities and see this northeastern area.
Sami
Matt from New York. I'm looking forward to meeting new people and learning some interesting stuff in my classes. I'm in criminal psychology and forensic science, and I'm taking a mini-course called "How Does TV Shape Our Personality?" We're learning about characters and how instead of being like you, a lot of times they're your opposite.
[In the middle of our interviews, Darren asked if he could add on to his answer. We, of course, said yes.]

Sami
Darren from Canada. Another part is learning about different people's cultures. I think that's a major component of this too, because, yeah, you can go to any place but you can't go to that many places in the world that have such a unique mix of such different cultures. Like, I've met people from Venezuela, France, Brazil, China, and from all over the United States. It's just so interesting to get to learn about people's cultures and get their take on things. It's interesting to see how people's backgrounds influence their perspectives.
Sami
Jean-Guillaume from France. My main goal was to improve in English, as well as learn new things and meet new people. I'm interested in my classes -- human rights and economics. Especially economics.
Sami
Kevin from China. I'm looking for fun. You know, not just computer games at home. I'm looking forward to being outside and to friendship -- and not being at home.
