commuting to yale Our day students are fully engaged in all aspects of the Senior Program experience. You’ll be placed in a Day Group, with a Day Advisor (DA) who helps plan special day student events and keeps you posted on all of the options available at Exploration. Although many day students leave just before dinner (5:45 pm), day students are encouraged to stay into the evening as often as they wish and may stay overnight at the Program up to three nights per week. (There are charges for staying late and overnight to cover additional meals and housing costs.) In addition, as a day student you can also opt to participate in weekend and Wednesday trips and special events. day student transportation The Yale University campus is centrally located and easily accessible from greater New Haven, many towns along the shore of Long Island Sound, and the greater Hartford area. Day students check in with staff upon arrival at the Program each day, giving information about their mode and time of departure for that day. Day students have several transportation options for reaching the campus: public transportation Many day students come to the Program by train. There is commuter rail service from towns North, East, and West of New Haven. We provide a free bus shuttle between the Old Campus and Union Station in New Haven each morning and early evening. car transportation Students arriving by car should be dropped off at the High Street Gate between 8:00am and 8:45am and can be picked up anytime between 4:30pm and 10:45pm daily. Students may drive themselves to and from the Program, but may not give rides to residential students. Arrangements can be made for free parking in a local garage near the Old Campus. bicycle transportation Bicycles can be secured within the Old Campus. Bring a heavy duty lock and wear a helmet.
