about academics Exploration courses and mini-courses are unlike typical classes found in most elementary or middle schools. They are designed to be fun, to stimulate curiosity and discussion, and to encourage a life-long love of learning. Our courses do not include tests or homework. They range in subject from web page design, to engineering, to environmental science, to theatre. We encourage our students to take classes that either supplement existing interests or help them discover new ones. our courses Students attend two courses for each session. Courses meet on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays for one-hour-and-fifteen-minutes. Pioneers (fourth and fifth graders) take courses in the morning, and Voyagers (sixth and seventh graders) take courses in the afternoon. Course size is limited to 14 students or fewer. Students who come for the full summer take two new courses during second session. our mini-courses Each Wednesday, students attend two mini-courses, each for two hours. They attend the same two mini-courses each Wednesday for the entire three-week session. Mini-courses cover some of the topics offered during course periods in addition to more recreational options. Pioneers and Voyagers have mini-courses specific to their divisions, and there are some mini-courses open to both divisions. Students who come for the full summer take different mini-courses during their second session.
