Noah from California (6/29)
Noah is a Voyager residential student from California. Coming back for his second year at Explo, he's excited to take classes in magic and engineering, hang out with old friends, and make new ones. So, are you new to Explo? No, this is my second year. Last year was a lot of fun and I made a lot of really good friends. I really loved the courses and wanted to come back for more. What classes are you taking this year, and what was it about them that interested you? I'm taking a magic trick class called “Focused Hocus Pocus.” I've always liked magic tricks. Also it's not something you get to do in school. I'm also taking an engineering class. Have you ever taken any classes in engineering, or done anything like that before? No, but [Explo] is a really good opportunity to try new things. How do the classes here compare to the things you learn at school? Explo classes aren't really too much like class. You learn things, but you learn more fun things. Like, I took a class about hovercrafts last year. You learn a lot, but it's all fun -- more fun than studying in school. Also, the Explo classes help during the school year. Like, last year [at Explo] I took a class about marine biology, and in school this year we did some things about animals and the marine biology stuff really helped me. It helps in school a lot. What about your Wednesday Workshops? I'm taking fencing and street luge. I'd never heard of luge until I got here. I didn't try it last year and never tried it before and am really excited to do it. What was your favorite part about the Program from last year? Um, I'm not sure. I loved all the classes, so I guess that might be it. Also, I just have a lot of fun with friends. The trips to Canobie Lake and to the waterpark are really awesome. I did them last year -- both of them. All the water rides are the best! Also, the food is awesome. My older brother went to Explo before I did, and when he came back the first time, the first thing I asked was, “Was the food good?” and when I got here, it was awesome. Everything is good -- actually great! Do you know any of the other students living on your floor? Yeah, I know a couple kids from last year on my hall, so it's good to be with them again. Also there are a lot of new people. It is my roommate's first year, and it's cool getting to meet kids who haven't been to Explo before. more conversations > first session | second session |
