Question of the Day: "What's the One Thing You'd Tell Someone From Home About Explo?" (7/28)

Katie
Katie from Massachusetts. I would tell them that it's a place where you can learn a lot but have even more fun. And you can try tons of new things that you never would've been able to try at home. It's the experience of a lifetime that I never would've gotten anywhere else.
Kelly
Kelly from Pennsylvania. I would tell them that everybody here is so incredibly nice and really quirky and fun. The counselors, they don't seem like this is a chore; they want to be here and they encourage you. Everybody in my hall, we've already gotten so close even though it's only been, like, a week. It's a pretty amazing place.
Lisa
Lisa from Illinois. I would tell them that Explo's a great way to great way to come out of your comfort zone, because you get to be loud and outspoken about your opinions.
Emily
Emily from Bermuda. It's a great experience and it's the perfect chance to really find out who you are. Like, at home, there's sometimes peer pressure and you can't always be who you really are, but here it's a chance to start fresh and be like, 'Okay, this is me, I have a chance to make friends based on who I am, because nobody is pressuring me to be someone different.' At home, I really like science . . . I wouldn't consider myself a total science nerd, but I really, really like it. And I found here that when I'm actually participating in a science class, I don't have to feel like, 'Oh, I'm participating in science.' I can actually say, 'I'm good at it, I like it, it's fun!'
Sinclaire
Sinclaire from Virginia. That it's a really good opportunity for learning new things and gaining independence and seeing new people. Like, living alone and having to clean up after yourself and doing your own laundry and stuff.
Erica
Erica from Connecticut. I would tell them about my courses and all the opportunities at Explo and all the different things you can try. I'm really into fashion, so I knew that i wanted to do that while I was here, but I also tried sailing the other day, which was fun.
Ely
Ely from Ireland. I'd tell them about all the different kids here and the living groups. All the friends you make and how everyone's really different. There's so many different nationalities here, and people have such different interests.
Meghan
Meghan from New York. I'd tell them about what it's like to live here. It's fun -- it's not like camp but it's definitely not like living at home. It's different, it's a new experience.
Bad
Badriyyah from Kuwait. I'd tell them that I like it so much that I keep coming back. It's my fourth summer at Explo -- and the people, the courses, it's all so different from everywhere else. You actually get to do stuff that you wouldn't be able to do anywhere else. Like some of the activities they have -- today, I did something called "How to be an Astronaut." It was really fun and I don't think you would find that -- like, the creativity and the spirit, you just can't find that anywhere else.
Emma
Emma from New Hampshire. I would say that it's really easy to get to know everyone. You become friends quickly because you're all so close and together so much. It feels like I've been here for weeks because I know everyone so well; I feel like I have friends everywhere.
Anna
Anna from Connecticut. I'd tell them that Explo is really fun, and you can pick whatever you want to do. You can try new things, you can meet new people who are interested in what you're interested in, and you can find a new hobby. So far, I've gotten to try fashion design and I've learned some Italian.
