	anna from colorado (7/8) Anna is a rising 8th grader from Colorado. This is her first year at Explo. We met her, her mother, and her brother on move-in day and were happy to get a chance to chat with her again! This swimmer, cyclist, and aspiring fashion-designer is excited to try trapeeze and, as she proved this afternoon, she is already well on her way to becoming quite the improv-comedian. How are you liking classes so far? They’re good. I’m taking fashion Design ["Move Over, Tommy Hilfiger'] and Explo₂, which is chemistry. I’ve been hearing a lot about “Move Over Tommy Hilfiger”. What have you done so far in that class? We’ve been looking at things like how if you design a fashion line, the pieces all have to go together, even if they aren’t supposed to . . . and how different fashion eras effect present trends and future trends. Were you interested in fashion before? Yeah, definitely. Are you designing something in the class? Yeah, we’ve been designing already. Like, today we designed something based on a piece of art that inspired us. And then last week, we designed something inspired by a different time era. What piece of art and time era did you choose? I did the 40s for the time era. I’m not sure exactly what my art piece was, but it was kind of a piece of green tissue with other pieces stuck on top. What did you design based on that? A green dress that used the same greens and was like the tissue. Sounds pretty! So you said Explo₂ is a chemistry course. Would you say it's a lot like a class you’ve taken in junior high then? Um, well, I think we're doing a lot more things than in school, and we don’t have to know the answers right off . . . No pressure to learn, so it's fun. So, how was your first weekend of trips? It was fun. I didn’t go on the Saturday one because my mom came to visit and take me out, but the Sunday one was fun. I went to the Blue Man Group. I’ve seen it before, but I was happy I got a chance to see it again. What mini-course are you doing? Handbag design and skincare creations. What’s handbag design like? Its good. I’m designing a clutch, since it's basic to make. Do you think Explo is preparing you for high school and college? [Nods and laughs.] How so? It's just being away from home and like living with a bunch of new people you don't really know. How’s your film coming along for your living group? It’s coming along really well. We picked an easy one, so everyone can be a part of it . . . and if we mess up one time, we just re-do it because it's one scene. My floor is working well together. What kind of movie is it? It’s a, um, Dramady, a drama-comedy. It’s in a scary hotel where all of these crazy things are happening. Like these people are just . . . it’s a gathering of crazy people. I’m with one of my friends and we’re an old married couple arguing over a chicken wing. And other people are falling around trashcans, its just crazy. If Explo had a mascot, what would it be?
