![]() Explo instructors are passionate about the fields in which they are teaching; however, they are also primarily undergraduate and graduate students with little or no teaching experience. Our summer Curriculum Advisors (CAs) mentor these instructors as they implement activity-based curriculum developed with the assistance of Pre-Season Curriculum Advisors. Over the course of the summer, CAs (most of whom are educators or professionals in a related field) work to ensure not only that our Instructors have successful summer teaching experiences, but also that our courses encourage our students to challenge themselves, discover new ideas, and experience the joy of learning. Position DetailsCAs observe courses, workshops, and mini-courses, giving Instructors direct feedback and guidance on their classes. In addition to serving as a resource for curriculum development and teaching skills, CAs also help Instructors procure supplies and coordinate special events (such as field trips) for their courses. As on-site staff members, CAs also help chaperone trips, take part in student activities, and perform other Program tasks and duties as needed. Time Commitment Like other summer faculty positions at Explo, the CA job is a seven-week commitment: the first week for staff orientation and training, the next six weeks for the enrichment Program. CAs are expected to live on-site (room and board is provided). Compensation + Credit The CA salary is $5000 for seven weeks of work (plus room and board). CAs are also eligible to receive Professional Development Points towards recertification and graduate credit for their work with Exploration. |
