admissions considerations Many different types of students have had successful summers at Exploration. It is important for parents to understand, however, that Exploration might not be a good match for some students. Students at Exploration need sufficient energy, concentration, and stamina to get through a full, busy, and structured schedule. We expect a lot from our students in terms of their ability to handle the choices and responsibilities they are given with an appropriate level of maturity. If parents or guardians have any questions as to whether the Junior Program, Intermediate Program, or Senior Program is the right place for their child, we ask that they please contact our admissions office before sending in a pre-enrollment form or application (781.762.7400). Exploration not only forms a relationship with the student who attends the Program, but also with his or her parents or guardians. For Exploration to work in a positive and safe way for our students, parents/guardians must be able to support our policies and procedures. Exploration reserves the right to dismiss a currently enrolled student if the students parents/guardians are not cooperative and/or compliant with Exploration policies and procedures. In addition, Exploration reserves the right in subsequent summers to deny enrollment for similar reasons. Before you enroll a student, please make sure the student will be able to attend the entire session. Exploration has an overall curricular plan that includes courses, activities, speakers, mini-courses, and trips, as well as residential and student life. Since each session of the Program is only three weeks long, it is not appropriate for a student to miss several days, or part of each day of the Program, whether at the beginning, middle, or end of each session. If family vacations or other obligations mean a student will miss several days or more, the student will not be allowed to register. Depending on timing and whether the student can be replaced, there may not be a refund granted. See our refund policy for more information. ![]()

a note for international students Last year, Exploration welcomed students from more than 40 countries to participate in our Programs. International students must be able to converse easily in English. It is important that students have a sufficient knowledge of English in order to take advantage of everything Exploration has to offer. ESL courses are available to help international students improve their English speaking skills and learn about United States culture while they are at Exploration. International students must apply using each Programs International Application, which includes a teacher evaluation to be completed by the student's English teacher. Download the appropriate International application on our downloads page. All payments, including deposits, tuition, and cash advances must be made in US funds. In order to attend the Program, international students need to acquire a B-2 VISA for a short visit. (The B-2 VISA is normally obtained at the United States Embassy in each individual country.) International students are required to carry American accident and health coverage, which may be purchased through Exploration. Please contact our admissions office if you have any questions. |
