Courses + Academic Options
We design our courses to give you just the right access point into the subject matter of your choosing, and the chance each day to explore it to the fullest: Dissect a sheep’s brain in Anatomy + Physiology, direct your own production in Yale’s black box theater, or design your own cantilevered piece of movable art. The choice is yours.

EXPLO Art Show

At the end of each session, our mock trial courses convene in the Yale Law School's Moot Court to try their cases. The court gallery is always full of friends and supporters for each side.
On the second Wednesday of each session, students listen to incredible talks with our Speaker Series, and either take a college prep seminar or participate in a community service project.
Morning Options
Whether art, science, history, or literature is your passion, you'll be able to explore your interests in your morning courses. You'll write lyrics for a modern hip hop song speaking to the issues of today (Hip Hop as Revolution), design and build roller coasters (Mechanical Engineering), or run a presidential campaign (Political Media Studies). Choreograph your own routine (Modern Dance), coordinate your own flash mob (Guerrilla Theater), or learn to talk with the hand (American Sign Language).
Students at EXPLO at Yale sign up for two enrichment courses each session. In addition to our regular courses, EXPLO at Yale also offers two special concentrations in the morning:
HS2C: The College Writing Concentration
Designed by Dr. Sarah Myers McGinty, author of “The College Essay,” our High School to College Writing Program (HS2C) teaches you the techniques and skills to take your writing to the next level and start you thinking like a college writer.
CSC: The College Search Concentration
Led by Sarah Hoffman, a highly experienced college advisor, the College Search Concentration (CSC) is designed to help you navigate the complicated college admissions maze and identify colleges and universities that could be a good match for your unique interests and skills.
Afternoon Options
Our afternoon workshops give you a chance to stretch yourself (in Yoga or otherwise) even further. Immerse yourself in your favorite sport (Soccer, Tennis, Rugby) or try out a new one (Fencing, Zumba, Ballet). Explore the worlds of business or politics with workshops in Social Entrepreneurship, Child Rights, or International Crisis Management, or dive into the performing and visual arts with Latin Dance, Digital Self-Portraiture, or Movement Improvisation.
Each session you will enroll in two workshops. Alternatively, you can spend your afternoons with Princeton Review test preparation:
Princeton Review Courses
You want your standardized test scores to show your potential as a student — and nothing is more frustrating than an SAT score that doesn’t reflect the kind of student you know you are. Our Princeton Review classes demystify the SAT, ACT, PSAT, and TOEFL, breaking them down and providing insight into how the test is designed... so you’ll feel confident when it’s finally time to sharpen those No. 2 pencils.
