Don’t Get Boxed In
What we hear a lot from students is that back at home they can feel "boxed in" somehow. Everyone at school has their roles and it's hard to break out of them.
When you arrive at Explo, other students don't know you — but they want to get to know you. And that’s the thing. They want to get to know the real YOU — not the "you" people back home think you are. At Explo, it's time to be the person you want to be.
No Grades (By Design)
At Explo, you have the chance to take courses in subjects you're interested in or passionate about — without worrying about how well you'll do or what grade you'll come home with at the end of session.
By eliminating grades altogether, we remove that fear of failure and provide the safe haven you need to immerse yourself in the subjects you love — or try out the ones you've always been curious about.
A Community of Innovators
It's a program where you can freeze bubbles, create a contest-winning cupcake, argue a case before the Explo court, design a video game that rivals the classics, or lead your post-apocalyptic zombie nation to greatness — all before lunch.
This is life from an Explo perspective — a summer designed to introduce you — or maybe re-introduce you — to the fun of learning, by creating a safe space where you can exchange ideas, test out new-found talents, and meet people from just about every country you can think of.

During your Explo summer, you map out how you want to spend your day — which courses and workshops you'll take, which trips you'd like to go on each weekend — and we provide the flexible, yet structured, environment where you can make it all happen.
You can choose activities you're familiar with, but we'll (gently) encourage you to expand your horizons and try something new each day. Our students come to Explo with an eclectic array of interests — you'll learn as much from interacting with them and learning about their passions as they will learn from you.

Spending a summer surrounded by an international community of students and staff, your days will be filled with new ideas, interests, and opinions that will expand your understanding of the world and will encourage you to rethink your place in it.
At Explo at Wellesley, you'll find an environment where you'll stretch beyond your "normal" group, forming friendships with people of all different backgrounds, cultures, and beliefs. You may find yourself playing curbball with people fluent in three languages, or you might have a roommate whose family and customs vary greatly from your own.

With over 80 courses, 55 workshops, countless activities, and 15 trips per weekend to choose from, Explo at Wellesley gives you the opportunity to explore new interests and find your passions. Whether you dream of learning how to survive in the wild, writing a children's book, or racing robots (that you make!) down a clothesline course, our workshops and courses will open you up to new challenges, showcase your talents, and let you explore new fields you've always been curious about.
