Commuting to Wellesley
EXPLO at Wellesley is so much more than just a day program — with options to stay late, come early, or even sleep over, you’re truly part of the community.
Early Registration for Day Students
We want you to get acclimated to EXPLO as quickly as possible, so on the Saturday before the start of each session we invite day students to an early registration. You will have a chance to meet with staff and other day students in your advisory group, tour the campus, and review the rules and procedures of EXPLO. That way, when you arrive on Monday, you'll be ready to hit the ground running!
Our Bus Schedule
Riding a bus to school was never quite this cool. Our six school bus routes operate Monday through Friday. Check out the 2012 EXPLO at Wellesley Bus Schedule, complete with pick-up and drop-off locations and times. There is a $175 fee per session for this service.
Our day and residential programs are fully integrated and day students have many opportunities to share in the residential experience. While day student buses depart at 4:30pm, you may choose to stay as late as 9:30pm each day. You also have the opportunity to sleep over up to three nights each week, and you can join residential students on any of our evening and weekend trips. (Staying past 4:30pm or overnight involves an additional charge to cover the cost of meals and/or lodging.)
Your Day Group
As a day student, you will be placed in a day group with two advisors and other day students. Your Day Advisors will check in with you every morning and throughout the day to keep you up-to-date with all of the activities and events available at EXPLO at Wellesley, and to help you get the most out of your EXPLO experience.
Daily Check-In/Check-Out
Attendance + Check-In — Day students will meet with their Day Advisors every morning at 8:30am to check in and get information on the day's events. They will meet in their designated meeting locations Monday-Friday, rain or shine.
Check-Out Procedure — All day students are required to check out prior to leaving campus at the end of the day, regardless of the time or method of departure. Students leaving by bus or car at 4:30pm or by car at 9:30pm will check out with the staff member in the designated parking lot. Students should be picked up in front of Alumnae Hall, opposite the Wellesley College Parking Garage.

Traveling by Bus
Most day students travel to Wellesley College on one of our nine school bus routes, which operate Monday-Friday. Our buses service many towns within 15-20 miles of Wellesley College. Families choose the stop most convenient to their home or workplace from any of the bus routes, keeping in mind that students are dropped off in the afternoon at the same place they are picked up in the morning.
Cost is $175 per session.
Traveling by Car
Students may be dropped off and picked up by a parent or guardian. Students should be dropped off in front of Alumnae Hall, opposite the Wellesley College Parking Garage.
Traveling by Bicycle + On Foot
Bicycle racks are provided. Please bring a heavy duty lock and helmet. Students are not permitted to bike home after dark. Parents/Guardians will need to provide written permission for any student who walks or cycles to the program.
