Boarding School Search Concentration
Do you know which is the best learning environment for you? If you've been considering boarding school as an educational option, this concentration will help you find out what boarding schools can offer — and determine whether going to boarding school is the right path for you.
The Boarding School Search Concentration was developed in conjunction with the members of our Boarding School Advisory Committee, comprised of Directors of Admission and faculty at some of the leading boarding schools in the United States.
The Concentration will be taught by Bre McKenna, a former assistant dean, teacher, coach, and dorm parent at Governor's Academy.
The Boarding School Search Concentration is an alternative academic option. It takes the place of a first-period morning course and a week-one workshop. In addition, the concentration requires some additional time for one-on-one counseling and admissions work. The concentration is available for an additional charge of $195.
Your Education, Your Future
Is boarding school a good fit for you? Have you wondered what it must be like to live where you go to school? And what kind of kids go to boarding school in the first place? In the Boarding School Search Concentration, you'll discover how incredibly different boarding school experiences can be in the United States — and whether you can see yourself spending your high school years on a boarding school campus.
Through visits with admissions officers, boarding school deans, and tours of nearby boarding schools, you'll learn whether boarding school is for you. As you continue exploring your options, you'll learn what key elements to look for when scouting boarding schools, and you'll develop a list of schools that could be good matches for you and your learning style. In addition, you'll learn strategies for taking the SSAT, practice mock admissions interviews, and get advice on writing application essays.
Find out what boarding schools can offer that day schools and public schools often can't by signing up for the Boarding School Search Concentration. You'll leave with a clearer picture of what boarding school is like — and whether it's the right fit for you.
Concentration Details
The Boarding School Search Concentration replaces one of your morning courses and is available for an additional charge of $195. In addition, the concentration requires some additional time for one-on-one counseling and admissions work. Because of the week one workshop, students signing up for the Boarding School Search Concentration may not sign up for the three-week Princeton Review Study Skills workshop. Also, Day Students should be prepared to stay late during the first week of the concentration, as some afternoon trips will return to campus after regular Day Student pick-up.
