Residential Student Arrival Information
Registration for residential students begins at 1:00pm on Arrival Day. Because we need to prepare for your arrival, campus buildings will not be open before 1:00pm. Students should plan to arrive between 1:00pm and 5:00pm. (If you are coming to Explo with your family, please arrive before 4pm, as parents and family are asked to leave the campus no later than 5:00pm.)
Throughout the afternoon of Arrival Day, there are an assortment of staff-led activities going on at the program, including regular campus tours. We encourage families to join students on a campus tour and help them get moved into their rooms. In addition, there is an optional parent meeting with the Dean of Students and/or Program Head available at 2:15pm and 3:45pm.
For students arriving alone, please be assured that Explo staff will help them get settled and will be available to answer any questions that might come up.
PLEASE NOTE — We cannot accommodate early arrivals. Explo is not responsible for the supervision or well-being of any student arriving on the Wellesley campus before 1:00pm on Arrival Day.
TRAVEL BY PLANE — Explo will provide transportation from Boston's Logan Airport for students whose flights are scheduled to arrive from 12:00pm until 5:00pm. Our staff, wearing bright orange Explo T-shirts and photo IDs, will be located at the Baggage Pick-Up Area of each of the major terminals of the airport. Please schedule flights to arrive between 12:00pm and 5:00pm. We also encourage families to book their students' transportation through our travel partner, Colpitts World Travel at 781.326.7800, ext. 460.
Arriving students should go to the Baggage Pick-Up Area and look for staff in orange Explo T-shirts. Airport policies prohibit our staff members from greeting students at their gates. If arriving early, wait at the Baggage Pick-Up Area for our staff.
TRAVEL BY CAR — Follow these driving directions to the Wellesley College Campus. Once on campus, follow signs to Explo at Wellesley. On Arrival Day, we will have staff at various points along the road to give further instructions regarding luggage drop-off and registration. There will be parking available for cars once unloaded.
Residential Student Departure Information
All students MUST depart by 11:30am.
If you are picking up your child in a car, please arrive between 8:30am and 11:30am. Students will pack the night before and be ready for your pick-up, along with their luggage, on the quad. Signs and Explo staff will direct your car through our pick-up procedure, and assist in loading the car.
Our buses will take students to Logan Airport from approximately 5:00am until 12:00pm. Please arrange for your student's flight to depart Logan Airport between 8:00am and 2:00pm. Explo staff will assist students to airport security, and remain at the airport until we have confirmation that all flights have departed. If transportation to the airport is needed earlier than our first bus, we will help students arrange for a taxi or car service, but we will not have staff available to accompany them to the airport.
* Note for Residential Students Attending Two Sessions:
On Saturday, July 20, 2013, first session residential students will be departing. New residential students will arrive the next day. Parents or friends may want to sign out two-session students on Saturday. Students leaving campus should be picked up by 11:30am on Saturday and returned to the program on Sunday between the hours of 1:00pm and 4:00pm. Students should sign in and out at the Main Office since we will not have staff available on campus to be with students. We take all two-session students remaining on campus on an extended Saturday trip, featuring lunch, dinner, and evening entertainment. This allows us to clean and freshen the dorms for the next session's students arriving the next day. Students who participate in our afternoon/evening trip on Saturday, July 20, will be charged $100.
Day Student Arrival Information
EARLY REGISTRATION FOR DAY STUDENTS

We want you to get acclimated to Explo at Wellesley as quickly as possible. For that reason, we invite day students to come to early registration and familiarize yourselves with our campus and community before the session (officially) begins. For day students and families who are not able to make it to early registration, there is also an opportunity to register on Monday morning at the normal arrival time.
New Day Students — If you are new to Explo at Wellesley, please arrive between 1:30pm and 2:00pm to register. Students will be encouraged to take a swim test and should come prepared with a towel and a bathing suit to change into. After registration, students will have an opportunity to learn about Explo from the Day Program staff while parents and guardians are invited to attend an informational meeting for new families at 2:30pm. Typically, we will conclude by 3:45pm.
Returning Day Students — If you're already familiar with Explo at Wellesley, please feel free to register at 2:30pm. After meeting a few of the Day Advisors, receiving your registration packet and having your ID photo taken, you are free to head home. Typically, this process takes less than 30 minutes.
Day Student Departure Information
Day students are not able to stay overnight on the last night of the program, but are encouraged to stay late on campus until 9:30pm.
