Trips, Trips, Trips!
EXPLO at St. Mark's trips are a fantastic opportunity for students to engage in academic and recreational adventures, to meet new friends outside of their courses and mini-courses, and to explore exciting destinations throughout New England. We take great pride and exceptional care in planning our trips, from researching the best and most age-appropriate locations, to organizing small, supervised groups for on-site exploring.
The Right Kind of Choices
Saturday and Sunday are trip days, and students choose from a list of eight to ten options each trip day. Saturday is generally devoted to educational trips, such as a visit to the Science Museum. Sundays give students more recreational options, such as a trip to Water Country. The Saturday/Sunday trip structure helps strike a balance between learning and recreation and encourages students to sample from a broad range of trip choices.
In addition to our weekend trips, each weekend day the Program also offers two to three workshops on the campus of St. Mark’s School. These alternatives are a great way for students to explore sports, arts, theatre, science, and many other areas of interest. For example, students can work with our staff to make a patchwork quilt, try pastry making and cake decorating, or learn lacrosse.
An Evening Addition
Each session, a handful of special evening trips are also available for our students, including sporting events, circus trips, and various theatrical productions in Boston. Students sign up for night and weekend trips each week in their Living and Day Groups and individual trip costs are deducted from a student’s Miscellaneous Account.
